Summary

Fragments of Roman pottery were found during the digging of a ditch with a dragline. A ditch could be seen in both sides of the trench.

Sherds found in side of ditch being dug by dragline about 90cm by 1.2m (3 feet by 4 feet).Possibly a ditch running north to south as section showed in both sides of trench. Sherd of coarse grey ware and rim sherd of fine thin grey ware.

2000. Field Observation.
Site examined as part of archaeological assessment of Holkham Estate.
No sign of further pottery, although fieldwalking of surrounding fields identified scatters of potentially Roman tile (NHER 60684 and NHER 60685).
