Map

Little Barwick (Ordnance Survey).

R. R. Clarke (NCM) marked as '?village site'. (other information formerly on this card as to the church, from (S2), was a mistake for Great Barwick, see NHER1925). G. Becket in (S1) states name Little Barwick does not occur until 1681, but this is site of the lost settlement of Middleton, recorded from 1294 onwards. It never had a church and vanished in late 14th/ early 15th century.
E. Rose (NLA), 22 February 1985.

October 2025. Northwest Norfolk Aerial Investigation and Mapping (AI&M) Project.
No features relating to the deserted medieval settlement of Little Barwick or Middleton, described above, were identified on the consulted sources. Earthworks within Little Barwick Park, which appear to relate to the park itself and to boundaries and possible roads enclosed within it, are recorded as part of NHER 30494. It is possible that some of the earthworks mapped within the park (such as the cluster at TF 8031 3614, to the north of Barwick House) could relate to the earlier settlement site but this is uncertain.
S. Tremlett (Norfolk Historic Environment Service), 2 October 2025.
