Map

Blacksmith's and wheelwright's forge. Intact with all tools, tethering rings for horses, and large forge for tumbril tyres.

Surveyed by NIAS 1977. Grid ref supplied by district council 1984, who say building recommended for listing after having been missed by reviser (house is listed; 19th century).
E. Rose (NAU), 12 December 1984.

November 1995.
The forge is still intact, as on fiche, though the wheelplate has been moved to the house garden and the contents have been moved around. Condition appears good.
See NHER 46549 for the house.
E. Rose (NLA), 9 November 1995.

The grid reference supplied for this forge (TF 6853 3394) would appear to be inaccurate as it places it on No 26 Lynn Road itself. It is presumably within the outbuilding to the north, as this coincides with a building marked as a 'Smithy' on (S2). The mapped location of this record has been adjusted accordingly.
P. Watkins (HES), 9 August 2021.
