Summary

Fieldwalking and excavation has uncovered a large number of Roman finds including pottery, building material, quern fragments and two Roman pins. The excavation of a floor suggests there was a building here.

Roman sherds, tile, slag. Fragment of sandstone quern.

1963.
Two parts of Roman topstone of pudding quern found.
Roman sherds.

1965.
Roman sherds and stone with polished flat surface (clothes smoother or grain grinder?).
Identified by NCM.

1970. Excavation.
Roman material including bone pin and bronze pin excavated 'from above a floor which was left untouched'.

September 1976. Excavation.

Fragments of tooled brick.
Identified by T. Gregory (NAU).

30 September 1976. Visit.
In centre of area a concentration of flint pebbles. Only finds seen in situ were fragments of animal mandible and longbone and one small greyware sherd beneath them.

1978.
In box left by C. J. S. Green (NCM) were nine Roman sherds, rim of Grimston Thetford bowl and jet fragment marked 'surface of field'.

1980.
Follis of Constantine I, reverse SOLI INVICTO COMITI, mint illegible AD 307 to 318.
