Summary

In 1865 the Rector of Wisbech excavated an earthen mound located here. It was found to contain the bones of sheep, pieces of charred wood and a piece of metal believed to be a sword handle. No human remains were discovered in association with these finds.

Mound 0.25 miles from Sea Bank ('Site of' - according to Ordnance Survey) north of Black Bear Lane.
Opened in about 1865 by Rector of Wisbech (John Davies) - bones of sheep, charred wood and a piece of metal. Information from Wisbech Museum.

'It was excavated in 1865 by Reverend John Davies who found 2ft down from the summit, sheep bones and several pieces of imperfectly charred wood, 4ft lower other bones and a piece of metal believed to be an iron sword handle were unearthed. No human remains were discovered'.
