Summary

In 1970 part of a Bronze Age socketed axe with double moulding around the mouth was found in a posthole. The fragment was pitted and corroded.

1970. Found after ploughing in post hole dug by auger 60cm (2ft) deep, oak tree now growing in hole.
Fragment of the mouth of a socketed bronze axe with double mouth moulding. Probably undecorated. Pitted by corrosion. An old break.
Seen 1973 by E.B. Green (NCM) and T.H. Mck. Clough (NAU).
