Context 3 at 5305 9865.
Cropmarks ?small rectangular enclosure, on infra-red aerial photograph 26 July 1963.
R.R. Clarke (NCM).
2 January 1989. Context 1 at 5312 9870. Conditions good, well weathered ploughed.
Couple of fragments of pottery away from NDH 10.
R. Silvester (NAU) 2 January 1989.
Context 2 at TL 5303 9862c. Area 57m east to west x 39m north to south. Conditions good, well-weathered ploughsoil.
Sparse spread of pottery, abundant fired clay, patches of grey ashey soil, patches of fired clay and briquetage and occasional fragment of bone and shell.
All on top of silt ridge. Material more common in east of defined area, and little to west.

18 January 1989. Context 2 continues to south - overall dimensions about 60m north to south x 57m east to west. Into Upwell parish.

Group of small rectilinear enclosures (RAF/1601/4069).
Ordnance Survey air photos show 3 rectangular enclosures about 20m sq.
No archaeological finds were made on investigation.

1989-90. Further work carried out on this site during the Fenland evaluation project at Context 2.
The fieldwork involved an auger traverse across the site (no trace of features visible from air recognised), taking of samples of subsoil by auger, measuring level of water table (well below any archaeological deposits). A dossier has been prepared for English Heritage - see (S2) in file.
