Full Description
About 1941. Heavy clay soil found in ploughing up pasture which formerly had mounds and banks. Small gold torc (2cm in diameter) single strand (2mm in diameter) of twisted gold with plain terminals. Found coiled in five turns of about 2.54cm in diameter, terminals bent to follow direction of spiral though clearly once in opposite direction. Turns slightly irregular: probably once a three turn bracelet. Twisted part has triangular section; whole object 50cm (20 inches) long. (information from A. S. Mottram 1958).
