March 2008. Watching Brief.
Monitoring of groundworks, including levelling of bank. From Context 100.
At the western end of the area a small copper- alloy buckle with the word 'Paris' stamped on it was recovered. It appears to be of early modern date. Two slots were excavated from the northern face of the bank to a depth of approximately 2m. Metal detecting in the area produced an iron horseshoe of early pattern, some animal bones and a small lead fishing weight.
