Summary

A very rare Middle Saxon silver penny of Coenwulf of Mercia (AD 796 to 821) was found on the surface of a ploughed field here in 1961. Subsequent metal-detecting in 2024 recovered an Early/Middle Bronze Age flanged axehead and a Late Bronze Age to medieval copper alloy unidentified object.

A new variety of silver penny of Coenwulf of Mercia (796 to 821) Brooke Class II, Canterbury mint, moneyer Tidbearht variety.
