Summary

A grand late 17th century knapped flint and brick mansion with 18th and 19th century alterations, possibly with an older core and certainly on the site of earlier houses. It is set within the remains of a medieval moat.

Moat 70m east to west, 68m north to south, ditch average 10m wide. East arm almost completely filled in. Vague depression in front of house. South arm partially filled, inner side flint revetted. Spoke to manager [2]. He assured H. Paterson (A&E) that any change, dressing etcetera would be notified.

Moat remains as truncated feature in landscaped gardens of Hall.

The Hall itself is listed grade II* (S3), the stables inside the moat and the barn are each listed grade II.
