Impact assessment of proposed development at the Vancouver Centre.

November-December 1997. Trial Trenching.
Evaluation of proposed Vancouver Centre redevelopment site (Trenches 3 and 4).
Post medieval stone and mortar walls were found in both trenches and a flagstone surface in Trench 3 (to west), perhaps the remains of Vancouver House which is known to have occupied this site until the 1960s. Beneath the structure lay riverine silts containing no artefactual material. It appears that this area was open ground until Vancouver House was erected in the 17th century.
