Summary

One of three Roman iron working furnace sites reported in this area (see also NHER 3366 and NHER 3367). At the time of the report it was suggested that two of the furnaces had been destroyed and one was intact and surrounded by slag and 2nd to 4th century pottery sherds. However, it remains uncertain which furnace has been preserved. It has also been suggested that the surviving furnace actually refers to NHER 3364, recorded further north within a large rectilinear enclosure (NHER 28000).

One of three Roman iron working furnace sites claimed to exist in this area [1].
Two have been destroyed and one survives.
Surrounded by slag and 2nd - 4th century sherds plus late Roman finds at 'surviving furnace'.
These three sites have been recorded as NHER 3365, NHER 3366, and NHER 3367, but it is uncertain which one is still extant. It has also been suggested that the surviving furnace could be the remains recorded as NHER 3364.
