Map

1939. Stray Find.
Found in sandpit:
1 Roman beehive quern with iron circlet and handles. Made of Hertfordshire conglomerate (puddingstone). No associated objects (?Iron Age possibly much later).
Formerly held by Greenland Fisheries Museum (King's Lynn), present location unknown.
Details received from P. L. K. Schwabe.
Information from (S1).

An exact provenance for this object is not given on (S1). It is however likely that this is the same object as a puddingstone quern noted on (S2), which is listed as having been found at TF 675 195 - which is the site of a former quarry and therefore probably the "sandpit" noted on (S1). This source of this information is given as (S3).
Amended by P. Watkins (HES), 15 March 2016.
