Summary

An earthwork mound of unknown date and the cropmark of a square enclosure are visible on aerial photographs. Late Saxon and medieval pottery has been found on the site. 96 Late Saxon pottery fragments were recovered as stray finds in 2010.

1931.
Dr. Philip Laver told R. R. Clarke (NCM) that there was a slight mound 61cm (2') high with Roman pottery and tesserae at TF 7055 2180.
See (S1).
Other sites of Laver's from which 'Roman pottery' has been retained, have proved on re-examination to be Thetford Ware and medieval (Material reidentified).

1974.
A. Rogerson (NAU) confirms no mound at Laver's grid reference.

1979.
Grid reference given at top of record is almost certainly the one meant, it is a mound about 10m long, apparently consisting almost of medieval pottery according to A. Rogerson (NAU).
On (S2) it is marked by a dark outline on its west side (it is rectangular in shape) and with a dark square cropmark on top.
