Map

May 1962. Stray Find.
Picked up on ploughed field by [1]:
1 Bronze Age copper alloy socketed axehead. See drawing (S1). 10.2cms long, 5.3 cms wide.
In possession of [2].
Information from (S2). This discovery was reported in (S3) and is also recorded by (S4).

According to (S5) another looped and socketed axehead had been found nearby by [2] at some time during the early 1950s (at [3]). This record was made in 1972 and it is therefore possible that this was actually a reference to the axehead that had been reported in 1962.

Amended by P. Watkins (HES), 7 April 2016.
