NHER 4189 (Cropmark and Earthwork record) - Possible Bronze Age barrow

Summary

A possible Bronze Age barrow was recorded. However, this is more likely to be a mound of soil dug out from a nearby pond or part of the earthworks of a nearby deserted medieval village (NHER 4186).

August 1939.
Alleged tumulus southwest of Sparham Hall. 9 to 14m (10 to 15 yards) from pond. ?Upcast from pond. 2.7m (9 feet) high, diameter 20m (22 yards). Two old oak trees on mound. Doubtful.

Low mound 20cm high - original description should probably read nine inches not feet. Possibly upcast from pond, or a
deserte medieval earthwork. In pasture.
