Summary

Aerial photography of this area has recorded a number of cropmarks of features including a large subrectangular enclosure, many small rectangles, small circles, small enclosures, and others marks identified as possible old river channels. Some Roman pottery sherds have also been recovered from this area.

In field north of road, cropmarks of a large subrectangular enclosure, and other marks.
In fields to south, many small rectangles.
On these at 5201 0101 (4221/context 1) was found in November 1946. 'large quantities of Roman pottery' by W. Warby, now in Wisbech Museum.

Extended to west by Jane Bown (NAU) from aerial photographs in 1980.
Marks include odd meandering marks not thought to be roddons by D. A. Edwards, also enclosures, and others possibly old river channels pre Popham's Eau.

The pottery (context 1) is that wrongly located as at Pingle Farm in (S1).

(formerly marked at 530 009 by R.R. Clarke from this mistake and so formerly numbered 4218). Above NGR is correct as Wisbech Museum records make clear.
