Full Description
Found in 1860, west of church in rectory garden.
Gold coin of Morinic attribution (in fact Gallo-Belgic 'E') pierced on chain, with inscribed tag.
Weight nearly 1/4 oz. Obverse, blank. Reverse, 'Skeleton like figure of horse(man)'. 'Temp Julius Caesar, probably coined in France'.

R. R. Clarke (NCM)
(S2) (extract in file) records that the coin was found by an S. Bell, who found the coin in the roots of an old elm tree, blown down in 'a most fearful gale, such as none living can remember' in February 1860. Blyth paid Bell 12/6 for the coin.
