Map

1959. Garden of Wereham Hall.
Follis of Constantine I minted at Trier AD 307-317. Obverse: IMP CONSTANTIVS AVG. Reverse: SOLI INVICTO COMITI.
Seen by R. R. Clarke (NCM) 1959.
Information from (S1).

It is noted on (S2) that a King's Lynn Museum map has written here "Roman and ?earlier sherds, P. L. K. Schwabe' Loomweights, KLM?". The first part of this is almost certainly a reference to information on (S3), which records that in 1937 a "Gravel pit at rear of a bungalow yelled R-B sherds and one or two suggestive of earlier". The grid reference given on (S3) [1] indicate that this site was the source of these sherds and it is also marked as such on an early NCM record map. It was however subsequently decided that these finds were actually probably recovered near to the large former quarry pit that lies to north-west of Wereham (NHER 4403).
Amended by P. Watkins (HES), 14 March 2016.
