Summary

A medieval moat is marked at this location on the 1st edition Ordnance Survey map. It is visible on aerial photographs taken in 1946, along with possible enclosures and a possible field system. In 1960 medieval pottery sherds and part of a post medieval plate were found. The moat was destroyed in 1966.

Aerial photograph evidence suggests the moat was overall about 55m east to west and about 40m transversely with dry arms averaging about 10m wide, and a causeway entrance across the north arm. Probable contemporary field/enclosure systems appear on the west and east sides of the moat.
