Full Description
1961. Stray Find.
From stream south side of Shingham Wood about half way between east end of Hall Carr and Gooderstone Road:
Roman jar found complete but later broken by children, wheelmade grey ware.
See drawing (S1) and (S2).
Information from (S3) and (S4).
Amended by P. Watkins (HES), 25 November 2015.
(S5), seen by A. Rogerson (NAU), quotes [1] as saying that [2] claimed a dug out canoe was found in Shingham Springs (this approx area) but [1] did not believe this, unless it had been obtained from some antique record, as [2] was a newcomer to the area and was unlikely to have otherwise heard of it.
E. Rose (NAU) 16 December 1985.
