Summary

The earthworks of irregular enclosures of unknown date have been recorded close to the river. The enclosures have leats or channels leading to the river. It has been suggested that this is a possible medieval moat, but this now seems unlikely.

R.R. Clarke (NCM).

1995.
Enclosure is considered to be a natural meander of the river, now by-passed by a straightened section forming the western arm. The centre of enclosure is uneven, and has little height difference from exterior. The channel shows evidence of natural erosive forces on outer edges of bends.
B. Cushion (NLA) November 1995.

Site does not have the appearance of a moat, but rather amorphous enclosures on the river terrace, with leats or channels leading to the river. This description corroborated by Brian Cushion (NLA).
H. Paterson (NLA) 8 December 1995.
