Mentioned in Nomina Villarum, Domesday, 28 Taxpayers in 1329; Black Death relief 1352 to 134; 23 taxpayers in 1377; four open fields in 1635; one house in 1805.

1974. Stray Find.
Found at [1] (Context 1) in unknown circumstances:
Late Saxon disc brooch with backwards facing beast of type in (S2). Pin missing but hinged. See drawing (S3).
Cast NCM (mould 350.980).
Identified by A. Gregory (NAU), 2 February 1975.

Concentration in northeast corner of field of 13th to 16th century coarse and glazed wares.
Granite quern.
Iron knife.
One Thetford type rim sherd.
Worked flint all over area.
A. Rogerson (NAU).
Field north of church appeared to show faint earthworks. These examined by Brian Cushion (NLA). In his opinion an earthwork survey not warranted, as earthworks are very slight.
