Summary

Several urns containing a hoard of 500 silver coins dating to the reigns of Henry II and Henry III were ploughed up in 1855. Fragments of Roman pottery have also been found.

1963. Fieldwalking.
Numerous Roman sherds found by F. Curtis. This scatter extends into the area of NHER 14728 (Curtis Field 34).

500 silver coins of Henry II and III found in urns in side of ditch on Blackdyke Farm.
Deposited 13th century.

'Given to the Boileaus', (S4) stated found 1866, see (S5).

(S6) dated Autumn 1885 signed A.C. or A.L. marks pit at extremity of field north of plantation running at right angles to Drove Road. Tree blew down, earth turned to depth of 1.2m to 1.5m (4' to 5'). Pot and things found. Dug for more pieces in vain.
