NHER 5455 (Monument record) - Roman field system, trackways and cremations

Summary

A Roman field system and trackway are visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs, as well as a watercourse of unknown date. An excavation in 1952 recovered human remains and Roman and Iron Age pottery. In 1971 three Roman urned cremations were found underneath a mound, possibly a Bronze Age barrow. Prehistoric, Early Saxon and medieval pottery has also been found on the site, and a Late Saxon silver ingot has been found by metal detecting.
