Summary

A cropmark complex of including a probable Roman villa and associated buildings, a ring ditch, a rectangular enclosure and a linear feature, visible on aerial photographs. A Neolithic polished axehead has been found at this site.

Cropmark complex of rectangular, linear, ring ditch and regular 'six post' type feature.
Location on 50m terrace, north of River Bure.
Site first recorded by D. A. Edwards (NAU), Flight 14, 7th August 1974, NAU aerial photography.

This ring ditch is in close proximity to several other ring ditches. This group includes NHER 5788, NHER 36338, NHER 36339, NHER 36346, NHER 36473, NHER 36725, NHER 36726, NHER 36727, NHER 36728, and outlying NHER 11672.
There is an area of more dispersed ring ditches and Prehistoric monuments northwest of RAF Coltishall. These include NHER 12786, NHER 31742, NHER 36471, and NHER 36750 as well as a possible Neolithic causewayed enclosure (NHER 7690).

January 2013.
Reassessment of the oblique aerial photographs (S3) and more recent Google Earth imagery (S4) would suggest that this is the site of a Roman villa, with associated buildings and a possible temple.
