Summary

This 18th century brick barn with a flint plinth was significantly altered around 1770. The eastern end was converted to a cart horse stable in the 19th century.

February 1952. Listed, Grade II.
Barn and attached shelters early 18th century altered in about 1770, extended in the mid 19th century. Red brick part flint plinth, part thatched. West end older, with vitirfied bricks and lozenge shaped vents. East end with slits; both ends with cart doors. Roof of ten bays, double order butt purlins, windbraces to upper order. East part converted to cart horse stable in the mid 19th century.
The whole complex is described as an important example of an 18th/19th century farmstead.

November 2005.
Examination showed that the above description is basically correct [1]. The farmhouse, coach house and barn all began in the early 18th century and were extended in 1771. This is an important example of a farm showing development through the 18th and 19th centuries but cannot really be called an example of 18th century planning.
