Summary

The site of a possible Roman signal station and kiln. Excavations and casual finds since the early 19th century have recovered traces of Roman buildings, Roman coins, pottery fragments and other finds, as well as Bronze Age flints and pottery fragments and an Iron Age coin. The site has been somewhat eroded by the sea, and is now owned by the National Trust. Numerous sherds of Romano-British pottery and a fragment of imbrex were recovered between 1970 and 2010 and additional Roman pottery sherds were recovered between 2019 and 2023.
