Civil Parish HOCKWOLD CUM WILTON, WEST NORFOLK, NORFOLK

About 1850. Stray Find.
Early Saxon 6th century pendant containing coin found, according to (S1), "...by some boys digging gravel in a pit". It is likely that this find came from the eastern part of the quarry (to the east of the track), which cartographic sources suggest was the first area to be excavated.
This object is described by (S1) as a "garnet ornamented gold mount with three arms and a barrel shaped loop", containing a gold coin of Heraclius. Also described in (S2), (S3) and (S4). See (S1) for additional references and see file for photograph of object and copy of published illustration.
