Summary

In 1984 three patches of dark soil were excavated and prehistoric pottery sherds, potboilers, flint flakes and evidence of burning was noted. Fragments of cremated human bone were also noted. One or more ditches were also excavated and revealed pot boilers, daub, slag, post medieval pottery sherds and Bronze Age pottery sherds.

December 1984.
Exavation of three dark patches of soil recovered prehistoric pottery sherds, potboilers, flint flakes and evidence of burning. Fragments of cremated human bone were also noted. One or more ditches were also excavated and revealed pot boilers, daub, slag, post medieval pottery sherds and Bronze Age pottery sherds.

The cropmarks and excavation of the post medieval post mill and pit (previously NHER 7025 contexts 1, 2 and 3) have been reinstated to their original number (NHER 7071). Cropmarks of a double ditched enclosure (previously partly included in NHER 7025 context 1) are now recorded as NHER 38872. Other cropmarks in this field that were not specifically referred to in the NHER 7025 record are now recorded as NHER 27240, 27241, 27243 and 38864.
