NHER 65651 (Structure record) - 15th century sculpture

June 1987. Listed, Grade II.
Listing Description Excerpt:
"Relocated corbel. C15. Limestone. One of opposing pair set into wall at north entrance to hurchyard. Square section masonry block carved at (originally) exposed end in form of crouching grotesque."

May 2002. Field observation.
During an investigation of this site in 2002, it was noted that there is no north entrance to this church and no such carvings on either the east or west entrances. It was initially suggested that these carvings may actually relate to Walpole St Peter church, but there are also no such features there.

March 2005. Field observation.
The listed scupture was located following churchyard clearance. The former entrance to the churchyard is located on the edge of garden of the house to the west of the churchyard and had become completely overgrown. The pair of carvings are set on low brick plinths which are now isolated amongst graves.
