Full Description
Finds recovered from Alderford Common, Swannington during the early 20th century.
1909. Stray Find.
A number of "sub-crag implements" were recovered at this location by W. G. Clarke. These patinated objects are noted in (S1) and recorded in (S2) as being from "…a narrow 'stone bed' resting on the chalk…". Information from (S3). This flint had probably been recovered from a gravel pit that can be seen on the 1st Ed. O.S map at TG 1303 1818. It should be noted that the majority of the objects proposed as "sub-crag" Lower Palaeolithic

Pre 1924. Stray Find.
It is recorded that a number of prehistoric worked flints were recovered on Alderford by H. Halls (his Site 11). These finds were almost the collection he donated to the Norwich Castle Museum (NWHCM : 1924.83.11). Information from (S4). The nature of these flints is not clear, being listed by the museum simply as "undated prehistoric flint implements".

Pre 1931. Stray Find.
2 Neolithic flint axeheads were found on Alderford Common by Rev. J. D. Wortley at some time prior to 1931. These discoveries were reported in the local press (S5). Information from (S4).
