Summary

A Palaeolithic flint handaxe was found in the yard of Martham Station in 1969. The provenance of this object is uncertain as the yard contained dumps of stone that had been brought in from elsewhere.

Found lying on top of ground in station yard:
1 Palaeolithic flint ovate handaxe. See drawing (S1).
Provenance uncertain as loads of stone had been dumped here from Frettenham stone pit (? the chalk pit). Also holes dug in area. Information from (S2).
This discovery was first reported in (S3). It is also noted on (S4) and in (S5), (S6) and (S7), although no additional information is given.
