Summary

Fieldwalking in advance of the construction of a new road recovered prehistoric flint flakes; medieval, post-medieval and post-medieval/modern pottery sherds; post-medieval or later ceramic building material fragments and a fragment of post-medieval or later vessel glass. The cropmarks of a drive and linear features previously recorded under this number are now recorded as NHER 27574, 27512 and 12996.

Old drive seen, also a large ring with smaller ring inside to northwest (not a conventional ring ditch), and linear features.

December 1995. Systematic Fieldwalking Survey.
Fieldwalking along proposed route of bypass, across centre of site (Context 2 onwards).
Finds recovered included:
4 prehistoric flint flakes.
1 medieval pottery sherd.
13 post-medieval pottery sherds, 7 clay tobacco pipe fragments.
59 post-medieval of later roof tile fragments, 6 pantiles, 24 brick fragments and 31 undiagnostic brick/tile fragments and 1 glass vessel fragment.

The cropmarks of the drive and linear features previously recorded under this NHER number are now recorded as NHER 27574, 27512 and 12996. The ring ditch referred to above is not an archaeological feature, although other ring ditches are present in this area (NHER 27572, 27573).
