Full Description
1961.
Low circular mound seen in pasture enclosed by a rectangular ditch. Which is calculated to enclose half an acre. Smaller than NCM committee room - R. R. Clarke (NCM). Probably part of post medieval building, not a barrow.

Listed in (S1) and noted on (S2).

The earthworks of a rectilinear enclosure of an unknown but potentially medieval to post medieval date, and a likely associated mound, are principally visible on visualised lidar data from a survey flown in 2022 (S3) and on aerial photographs from 2020 (S4). The date and function of the features is uncertain. It is possible that the ditched enclosure may have related to a medieval moat surrounding a central building. It is also possible that the features could relate to a former medieval to post medieval mill site, post medieval ornamental or garden features, or a post medieval building surrounded by a ditched enclosure, as previously suggested above. The mound and ditched enclosure are likely associated with each other, however the possibility that the earthworks are not associated cannot be ruled out. The southern and part of the western side of the enclosure are not visible as earthworks on S3. The features are also not recorded on the readily accessible historic maps such as S5 and S6.
