Examination of the available aerial photographs in this area revealed what appears to be an area of quarrying centred on TL 9842 9039 on the 1946 photographs (S1). This may have been undertaken in order to build up the revetments on the southern side of the River Thet, as they appear to have been recently improved. Subsequently, the only features visible on the aerial photographs are filled in pits which are the remnants of this possible quarrying (S2-S4). None of these features are considered to be archaeological, but have been noted since they are sited within such a significant area of finds.
