Summary

Investigation since 1951 and metal-detecting between the late 1970s and mid 1990s has recovered prehistoric worked flint, including a Neolithic flaked axehead; a Late Saxon and medieval coin and Early/Middle Saxon and medieval metal objects. The metal finds include a Early/Middle Saxon penannular brooch, a medieval gilt-bronze ovoid pendant depicting a fantastic animal and a medieval harness mount.

September 1978. Found with metal detector in ploughed soil.
Silver penny of Edward the Confessor, expanding Cross type, heavy coinage, AD 1050-3. North I 823, Spraclinc at London.
Also four silver coins:
short cross cut 1/2d, Class I, Henry II, Hugo at Lincoln or Northampton, AD 1180-89;
short cross 1d, class 5, John, Roger at Canterbury AD 1205-8;
long cross cut 1/2d, class 5 Henry II, AD 1251-1272;
long cross penny, class XV, Edward III, Canterbury mint AD 1307-27.
