Summary

In 1947 a refuse pit was found here during trench cutting for sewers to serve the new housing estate. This pit contained several sherds of Roman pottery and some of these pieces were identified as grey ware.

1947. Approximatley 393m (430yds) northwest of Earlham Church and west of Old Larkman Lane. In cutting trench for sewers in new housing estate.
Refuse pit found containing Roman sherds. At depth of 45-61cm (1ft 6in - 2ft) below the modern surface.
Most of sherds dispersed but two saved (bases in grey ware).
Held by NCM having previously been held by a Norwich City Engineer.
