Map

1954. Stray Find.
Found by [1] on east side of Hethersett Lane.
2 prehistoric chipped flint axehead and 1 flint fabricator. Donated to Norwich Castle Museum (NWHCM : 1956.270). Information from (S1).

One of the axeheads was subsequently identified as Mesolithic by J. J. Wymer and is listed as such in (S2) and (S3). The second axehead is also listed in R. Jacobi's records (S3), where it is described as a small adze with a tranchet blow on each side. It does not appear to have been recorded as Mesolithic so it is possible that Jacobi felt it was more likely to be Early Neolithic in date.
E. Rose (NLA). Amended by P. Watkins (HES), 24 March 2014.
