Full Description
Barrow.
Near to gravel pits, formerly in plantation (Big Wood) revealed by tree felling 1921.
274m (300 yds) from NHER 9464.
In southwest corner field immediately northwest of what was the ford. Formerly tree covered, one of the biggest and best preserved in the county. Gravel pits around mound. 40m (44 paces) diameter, about 2.4m (8ft) high. No visible ditch; fence encroaches on west, rabbit burrows.

Disused pit reaches to edge of barrow.

Barrow masked by scrub/ bramble/ bracken. Planting of young trees in area respects a 1 to 2 metre distance from base of barrow. Agent to send estimate for strimming followed by a possible S.17 Management Agreement.

The round barrow described above is visible faintly as an earthwork on aerial photographs in 1945 (S3-S4), however it becomes harder to see through the tree cover on photographs from 1946 (S5) onwards. It is centred on TG 1813 0498 and appears to measure approximately 33m in diameter.
