Summary

A Bronze Age round barrow that survives as an earthwork. The barrow was formerly within a plantation known as Big Wood that was felled in the 1920s. It is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs from 1945.

36m (40 paces) diameter, about 1.9m (6'6") high, trees all over, no visible ditch.

Hole dug in mound ?by children. Immediately to east another mound, very irregular about 15m across, 1m high, but only spoil from excavation?

Barrow tree covered in wood. No ground cover or disturbance. S.17 Management Agreement in conjunction with NHER 9463 to be drawn up.

The round barrow described above is visible faintly as an earthwork on aerial photographs in 1945 (S3-S4), however it becomes harder to see through the tree cover on photographs from 1946 onwards. It is centred on TG 1833 0492 and appears to measure up to 16m in diameter.
