Summary

In 1949 a cropmark was seen in this field and reported to the NCM. It was thought to be a half rectangle with a projecting apse. However, a thorough examination of aerial photographs as part of the NMP revealed several natural fungus ring vegetation marks in the area, but no visible archaeological features.

Map

1949.
Cropmark seen in this field. Half rectangle with projecting apse.
Reported to R. R. Clarke (NCM).
Compiled by R. R. Clarke (NCM).

March 2009. Norfolk NMP.
Many natural fungus ring vegetation marks are visible on aerial photographs (S1)-(S3), centred at TG 2550 0878.
It is possible that these marks may have been mistaken for archaeological features, as they persist for some time, although it was not possible to examine any 1949 aerial photographs to be certain of the features described above.
E. Bales (NMP), 16 March 2009.
