Map

1965. Bronze animal disc brooch, with medieval sherds just to north, found here or at site NHER 9722.
Information from NCM card (S1) and (S3).

Owner of Swainsthorpe Hall confirmed this to E. Rose (NAU) 1 March 1979 (though he called the brooch an 'ancient key') and also said that in times of drought three circular marks close together appeared at this site, which is pasture beside the river. The name of the field is Dufford Close (=Dovehouse) which may indicate these are dovecots.
Compiled by E. Rose (NAU).

15 October 1993. NLA aerial photography (S2).
Location of site can be seen, but cropmark not visible.
H. Clare (NLA), 21 February 2001.

This is probably the brooch described and figured in (S4).
