Full Description
1963. Stray Find.
Found in extending chalk pit, within area now recorded as Context 1 [1]:
Base of Roman jar.

9 October 1972. Field Visit and Stray Find. [2].
Visit to Frettenham Lime Co. pit by J. J. Wymer and [3].
Very thick deposit (c. 16m) of sandy cross-bedded gravel (?Crag) but upper part is more ochreous and is probably different. Contour puts top of gravel at 100ft O.D.
A single rolled flint flake was found in situ within the top gravel by [3]. It is uncertain whether this was a genuine artefact - Wymer subsequently noted that he had doubts. Previously amongst material in Wymer's possession and therefore possibly now part of the Wymer Collection held by Royal Holloway, University of London (W3758).
