Full Description
April 1976. Field Observation.
Eight inhumations found in gardens of Rose Cottage and adjacent house.
Investigated by A. Rogerson (NAU) 13 April 1976.
Heads to west set in soil over natural ?chalk, 40 to 65 cms, depth to top of skulls.
Covering an area of at least 8m east to west and 2.5m north to south.
Largely disturbed by landowners.
Medieval sherds found.
The three gardens together form a rectangle which A. Rogerson (NAU) suggests is a church site.
The human remains and other finds from this site are now in the Norwich Castle Museum (NWHCM : 1998.46).
Although it was originally noted that no Roman material was recovered one of the sherds in the NCM was reidentified by A. Gregory (NAU) in July 1979 as possible Roman shelly ware.
