Summary

In 1960 work at Poringland Gravel Pits retrieved three Bronze Age pottery sherds. It was also claimed that urns and human remains were found but subsequently lost. This may suggest burials or a barrow.

Found at Poringland Gravel Pits:
3 Bronze Age pottery sherds.
Donated to Norwich Castle Museum (NWHCM : 1961.27).
Information from (S1). This discovery was reported in (S2).

Map says 6-9 Bronze Age urns revealed in clearing topsoil for pit 1960. These urns were supposed to have associated human bones, which might indicate the presence of a barrow or burial ground. Unfortunatley urns and remains were lost. Copy of cutting (S3) on back of (S1) in file.
