Full Description
1974. Aerial photograph. In field north of Fisher's Wood, and south end of field north of this.
Earthworks forming several conjoined rectangular and subrectangular enclosures. In pasture.

Said by informant to be deserted medieval village of Well. Surveyed by Ordnance Survey. This was Wella in (S1); in (S2) 1329, combined with Gayton.
Combined with Gayton 1329/1332.
1978
Complex of ditches has a maximum depth of 0.8m. Disturbed ground bordering the road possibly indicates robbed house platforms and a further area of disturbance at TF 7202 2032 may be the same.
