Summary

A Bronze Age saucer barrow, in fair condition, but covered in rhododendrons and with a large beech tree at its centre. It forms part of a group of barrows in the area.

Saucer Barrow in plantation, Grinsell's No 1. About 46m (150 feet) in diameter; ditch between mound and bank. Not one of those ploughed in 1941.

45m diameter, 2m high. Bank and ditch still visible but very overgrown with bushes. One tree in centre.

March 1975. Part of barrow group of Wessex Culture from about 1550 to 1250 BC. See (S1), (S2), (S3), (S4), (S5) for ploughing of some of group.

November 1983. No change. Excellent condition.

Ditch well marked. Covered in ragged rhododendrons. One large beech tree in centre. Other small deciduous trees and four conifers. Site form in file.
