Late Saxon copper alloy disc brooch with engraved lozenge with incurving sides branching into knotwork that occupies field. Jellinge style. R.A. Smith considered 8th century but according to R.R. Clarke (NCM) probably 9th to 10th century. Viking. See drawings (S1)-(S3).
Donated to Norwich Castle Musum (NWHCM : 1950.179.8.1 : A).

This object has been subject to XFR analysis, revealing its composition to be 86.38% copper, 10.90% lead, 1.69% zinc and 0.82% iron (the remainder being traces).
